Amidst attacks by party insider Shehzad Poonawalla over his elevation as the Congress party President and by the BJP over registering himself as a "non-Hindu" in the Somnath Temple record book, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi will attend public meetings and address voters today in poll-bound Gujarat.

Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit Lathi, Amreli, Botad and Bhavnagar today as part of his campaign trail. BJP, led by PM Narendra Modi, is also engaged in a full-fledged campaign across the state.

In a scathing attack against the BJP and the Prime Minister, Rahul Gandhi had earlier criticized the new national tax GST and called it the Gabbar Singh Tax. PM Modi in a rebuttal on Tuesday said that Mr Gandhi is propagating a "grand stupid thought" and that those who looted the country for decades can only think of dacoits.

Gujarat will vote in two phases on 9th and 14th December for the Assembly election. The votes of 182 constituencies will be counted on 18th December.
